Fay Looney

Fay Looney MNZM is a renowned photographer with a long and illustrious career. She has produced large format works in a variety of genres, including People/Sport, Landscape, and Lifestyle. Her focus on light is evident in her choice of printing medium, which embraces the very best results of light on wild seas, across mountain ranges, and throughout the New Zealand landscape.

Over the course of her career, Fay has accumulated a large library of work, including six successful New Zealand landscape and lifestyle books, as well as recent and current work available as limited editions. She prints exclusively in large format on a unique finish that offers a permanent, washable, weather-resistant quality, making her images suitable for hanging outdoors.

In 2019, Fay was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in recognition of her contribution to the arts, particularly photography. She is best known for her iconic New Zealand landscapes, which have been used for over 15 years in Tourism New Zealand's international promotions. Fay also became the first female president of the New Zealand Professional Photography Association.

Fay's achievements include winning the Agfa Photokina Award for Photographer of the Year in 1994, the Cathay Pacific Award for Travcom Photographer of the Year in 2004, and the Cathay Pacific Best NZ Travel Image award in 2015.
